How to write an ABA company review

A short, honest review from someone who has actually worked at an ABA company can change another practitioner's career. Here's exactly how to write one on ABA Career Intelligence™ — start to finish, beginning with a free account.

Step 1 — Create your free account

Head to the sign-up page and create a free Spicy Behavioral Institute account using your email (or Google). An account keeps reviews trustworthy — one person, one verified voice — and lets you edit or remove your reviews later. You will never be charged to leave a review.

Step 2 — Log in and open ABA Career Intelligence™

After verifying your email, sign in and visit ABA Career Intelligence™. This is the searchable directory of ABA companies, hour stability data, supervision quality, and field-sourced reviews.

Step 3 — Find the company (or add a new one)

Search by company name, state, or city. If the company is already listed, open its profile. If it isn't, no problem — the review form lets you add a brand new company. Just type the exact legal or common name you worked under.

Step 4 — Open the review form

Click “Submit a Review.” You'll land on the review submission page. Pick your role (RBT, BCaBA, BCBA, Parent, or Interviewed), your employment status (current, former, or interview-only), and the service model (in-home, clinic, school, hybrid, telehealth).

Step 5 — Rate the things that actually matter

Use the 1–5 star scales to rate hour stability, supervision, training, culture, ethics, career growth, and overall experience. Be honest — these ratings power the composite score future applicants rely on. If you weren't there long enough to judge a category, leave it at the default and explain in the written section.

Step 6 — Share schedule, supervision, and ethics details

The questions about cancellation handling, BCBA accessibility, training adequacy, and ethical support are what set ABA Career Intelligence™ apart from generic job boards. Answer the yes / no / unsure prompts truthfully and add short context where it helps.

Step 7 — Write your green flags, red flags, and advice

In your own words, list what the company does well (green flags), what to watch for (red flags), and advice you'd give a future applicant. Be specific but professional — no client names, no coworker names, no defamation. Describe patterns, not individuals.

Step 8 — Choose anonymous or named, then submit

Check the “Post anonymously” box if you'd like your name and email hidden from the public review (we still keep them privately for moderation). Otherwise, add a display name. Click Submit Review.

Step 9 — Wait for moderator approval

Reviews appear publicly only after our moderation team approves them. We screen for safety, identifying information, and policy compliance — not for whether the review is positive or negative. You'll see your review go live on the company profile once approved.

A few ground rules

  • No client names, initials, or identifying details — ever.
  • No coworker, supervisor, or BCBA names. Describe roles and behaviors, not people.
  • Stick to your own first-hand experience. Don't repeat rumors.
  • Reviews are opinions for informational purposes only and don't constitute legal, employment, or clinical advice.
